Eye Disease Diagnosis & Management

Eye Disease Diagnosis & ManagemenT

All Albertans are covered by Alberta Health for medically necessary and urgent care visits to their doctor of optometry.  We have the proper knowledge, tools and equipment necessary to diagnose, treat and refer to a specialist, if needed. We routinely work with other health care providers to ensure you have the best care possible.

Emergency Eye Care

As a comprehensive optometric clinic we care for and treat most eye diseases and injuries.

When you experience an eye emergency which could pose a threat to your sight, it’s time to forget all about “why” and “how” it happened, and start focusing on the “what” you need to do. Following any trauma, it’s imperative that quick and decisive action is taken, to maximise your chances of making a full recovery.

If you are concerned about any eye emergency whatsoever, be sure to call our practice and arrange an emergency appointment: we’ll fit you in as soon as possible and perform a complete evaluation of your eye health and vision.

Laser Eye Surgery Consultation

Laser eye surgery is one of the safest procedures in the world today. That alone is a pretty good reason to consider laser eye surgery, even if you haven’t really considered it before. Performed on over 75,000 Canadians every single year, the success rates are through the roof with over 95% of patients pleased with the results.

If you suffer from myopia, astigmatism or hyperopia, you could be a suitable candidate for laser treatment. We’ll get you in for a comprehensive exam to establish what level of correction is required, as well as an evaluation of your eye health. Not everyone is a good candidate for surgery, depending on your corneal thickness, shape, and overall health.

Dry Eye

Many Canadians will experience dry eye at some point in their lives. It’s an exceptionally common condition which can be exacerbated by seasonal variations, so it’s pretty hard to avoid. If you spend a lot of time outdoors, or sitting in an office which uses recycled air, you’re probably more likely to be hit than most.

The good news is that dry eye is not usually a severe condition. Minor medicinal treatments and lifestyle changes tend to overpower symptoms, but it’s important to confirm that you do actually have dry eye, not another condition exhibiting similar symptoms.

A quick through examination of your eyes will let us make a diagnosis and recommend suitable treatment options.
